The differences between vitrificated microsphere expanded perlite and ordinary expanded perlite

Similarities:

The raw materials used for both production are the same, both derived from perlite ore sand.

2. Both are products after high-temperature expansion, with the same chemical composition. They are both resistant to acids and alkalis, colorless, odorless and non-toxic, and both belong to the A-level fireproof materials promoted by the Ministry of Construction.

3. Structurally, they all have certain micro-pores, thus possessing properties such as heat preservation, heat insulation, and sound absorption, and are widely used in building insulation systems.

Difference:

1. Structural differences: Expanded perlite has open pores, while glass microspheres have closed pores. Therefore, glass microspheres are also called closed-cell perlite.

2. Different processing equipment: Expanded perlite is heated and expanded in a gas generator, while glass microspheres are expanded in an electric furnace.

3. Different water absorption rates: Glass microspheres are not easy to absorb water, while expanded perlite has a very high water absorption rate. Once it absorbs water, the insulation effect of expanded perlite will be greatly reduced.

4. Different bulk densities: Expanded perlite is generally between 70 and 100kg/m ³, while glass microspheres are between 110 and 130kg/m ³.

5. Different application scopes: Glass microspheres are mainly used for external wall insulation, while expanded perlite is mainly used for roof and floor insulation.
